Wide receiver Brandin Cooks is a free agent for the first time in his career after his contract with the Dallas Cowboys expired this offseason. He is now free to sign with any team he chooses.
Cooks did not have his best season in 2024. He only posted a 26-259-3 line in 10 games and averaged a career-low 10.0 yards per reception.
It’s unknown what kind of interest he will draw on the open market as he turns 32-years-old in September and appears to have lost a step. However, several receiver-needy teams could gamble on the 11-year veteran. Let’s take a few minutes and discuss a few potential landing spots for Cooks.

New England Patriots
New England is still looking to find a receiver to pair with quarterback Drake Maye. Head coach Mike Vrabel has gone on record with his desire to do so. Sadly, they’ve struck out so far this offseason.
The Patriots could ultimately draft Travis Hunter and use him as Maye’s WR1. However, they could still be eyeing several veteran free agents. Cooks is on the downside of his career, but he still has some juice left in the tank. He would certainly open up the field for New England’s other receivers and would be a legitimate deep threat in an offense that desperately needs one.
We’ll have to see how things shake out in the coming weeks, but Cooks could be a good fit as he has previous experience playing in offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels’ system.

Green Bay Packers
Cooks would bring a vertical threat to Green Bay’s offense and work as a potential Christian Watson replacement while he is sidelined. However, the Packers are rumored to be looking for a true WR1 this offseason. While Cooks has had some nice seasons in his career, he doesn’t really profile as such.
Green Bay is reportedly one of the front runners to land Cooper Kupp. It would seem he is their clear preference. However, if that plan falters they could look in Cooks’ direction.
Tennessee Titans
Tennessee needs another wide receiver to play alongside Calvin Ridley. Treylon Burks is a confirmed bust and last year’s WR2 Nick Westbrook-Ikhine recently signed with the Miami Dolphins. Cooks might not be the ideal target for Tennessee as Ridley is 30-years-old and turns 31 in December. The team might prefer to find a younger receiver in the NFL Draft.
However, the Titans hired Mike Borgonzi as their new general manager this offseason. Current head coach Brian Callahan was not hired by Borgonzi and might be under pressure to win immediately. That could mean Cooks is signed in an attempt to help whoever winds up as Tennessee’s starting quarterback in 2025.
