New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks found the end zone for the first time this season in Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Cooks had five receptions for 120 yards, scoring on a 14-yard strike from QB Drew Brees.
With the Saints trailing for most of the game, Drew Brees was throwing the ball a lot in an attempt to make the game competitive. While Cooks only had five catches, he was targeted nine times in the contest, which is another promising stat for his fantasy prospects. Fellow Saints WR Willie Snead had another productive game, catching six balls for 141 yards. Snead's minor breakout bodes well to Cooks' fantasy production, as he will take some of the defensive attention away from the Saints assumed number one receiver.
Cooks owners can breathe a sigh of relief after he had easily his best game of the year today. Cooks was predicted by many to have a breakout season this year, but has struggled up until today's performance. Moving forward, Cooks should be a reliable WR2 with a high ceiling. Keep him in your lineup next week as he has another good matchup against the Falcons.
