ANALYSIS: New York Jets rookie running back Braelon Allen will likely serve as the No.2 running back on Monday night against the San Francisco 49ers and should be left on your bench in all formats.
Allen was selected in the fourth round of this year's draft out of Wisconsin. Through three seasons with the Badgers, the 20-year-old averaged 1,164 yards each season on the ground with an added 91.3 average yards through the air. During his time in college, he scored 35 total touchdowns.
Allen looked sharp through the preseason as he totaled 54 yards on six carries in his pro debut against the Washington Commanders and saw eight additional carries in the second game against the Carolina Panthers.

Through his preseason usage, fantasy managers should expect the rookie to serve as the backup to star running back Breece Hall throughout the season. Hall is a workhorse and should see the vast majority of snaps including third-down work.
Allen is still worth holding onto as a handcuff in deeper formats but should be left on all benches in the opening week as he may not see many opportunities.
