ANALYSIS: Brad Ziegler has officially supplanted Addison Reed as the closer in Arizona. Considering that Ziegler was second in all of baseball in the month of June with nine saves, you would think that more than 9% of leagues would have a home for Ziegler on their rosters. Ziegler has a 1.29 ERA, 0.886 WHIP, and 3.60 FIP in total for the 2015 season. Ziegler also has an insane ERA+ (ERA adjusted for ballpark) of 311. Ziegler has defeated the traditionally hitters ballpark in Arizona by producing a ridiculous 3.72 GO/FO ratio with an impressive 1.5% HR%.
He's been especially untouchable in the last 28 days with a 0.00 ERA and a 0.667 WHIP. With only 45 career saves since 2008 (13 this season), the outlook may be more as a dominant setup man, but with the struggles of others in Arizona's bullpen (Addison Reed - 5.92 ERA, Oliver Perez - 4.35 ERA) it is safe to add Ziegler with the expectation of a low ERA and WHIP, and plenty of save opportunities going forward.
