ANALYSIS: Brad Ziegler is that gorgeous shy girl who you eventually realize was right under your nose the whole time. This season, Ziegler has a 1.80 ERA, and a 0.96 WHIP. Ziegler has a career ERA of 2.52, a career WHIP of 1.23, a career FIP of 3.44, yet only 38 career saves in 485 2/3 IP. Ziegler has mostly been a setup man, sporting 110 career holds. The closer responsibilities in Arizona may, however, be shifting. The Dbacks bullpen has been struggling. Addison Reed has a 4.71 ERA, Oliver Perez has a 5.74 ERA, and Evan Marshall has a 6.08 ERA. With five saves and three holds on the season, Ziegler leads the Arizona bullpen in saves, holds, ERA, and WHIP. Ziegler is able to be successful in a hitter's ballpark by limiting and controlling damage despite a low K/9. Ziegler creates a lot of grounders, as he has a GO/FO ratio of 3.29. Ziegler also has a career HR% of 1% and a career XBH% of 5.3%. If batters make contact on Ziegler, they aren't doing damage. If you need a RP with newly found opportunities for saves and a crazy low ERA and WHIP, add Brad Ziegler to your roster as soon as possible. Addison Reed may eventually get the job back, but for now it belongs to Ziegler.
