There was a time where Joe Kelly showed a glimmer of hope that he might be a very good starter. It was in 2013, when he fashioned a 10-5 record for the National League champion St. Louis Cardinals. He didn't overpower anyone, but his 2.69 ERA showed promise. Ironically, he was traded the next year to Boston, the team that he faced in the World Series in '13. Since then, he hasn't come close to that 2.69 mark, but he did win 10 games in '15 for a Red Sox squad that finished in last place. His numbers could improve this season due to his moving over a slot in the rotation thanks to the addition of David Price. The only team in the American League East that could truly negatively impact his numbers is that buzz-saw of a Toronto Blue Jays lineup. Our writers are a little leery of him, with two not even putting him in their top 300 picks but one of them had him at No. 270. Pick him really, really late in your draft to round off whatever starting pitching you need. If he's better than Average Joe, then you win.
