Bold Predictions for Fantasy Football Week 4: Lamar Jackson, Alexander Mattison, Raheem Mostert, Ja’Marr Chase, Travis Kelce

Raheem Mostert - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Week 4 is here, and I’m back with another edition of fantasy football bold predictions. This week’s list of bold predictions will include Lamar Jackson, Alexander Mattison, Raheem Mostert, Ja’Marr Chase, and Travis Kelce.

Every week, I will provide some fun and bold fantasy football predictions. While these bold predictions aren’t the most likely outcomes, they are things I believe could happen this week.

Let’s look at my five bold predictions for Week 4 of the 2023 NFL season.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2024:

Lamar Jackson

Finishes the week outside the top 12 quarterbacks

The superstar quarterback has played well this season. After struggling in Week 1, Jackson has been outstanding the past two weeks, averaging 25.5 fantasy points per game. He has been the QB3 since Week 1, scoring at least 22.9 fantasy points in both contests. Last week, Jackson had a significant role in the run game, totaling 14 rushing attempts for 101 yards and two touchdowns against the Indianapolis Colts.

Unfortunately, the superstar will struggle in Week 4. He faces the Cleveland Browns and their elite defense. The Browns have held quarterbacks to only 5.8 fantasy points per game this season, the second-fewest in the NFL. Furthermore, they have completely suffocated opposing passing attacks.

Cleveland has held quarterbacks to only 136 passing yards per game in 2023. They gave up a 71-yard touchdown to George Pickens in Week 2. Outside that single-blown coverage, Cleveland has held quarterbacks to only 0.12 fantasy points per pass attempt this season. Furthermore, Jackson won’t produce fantasy points with his legs. The Browns have been the top team at containing rushing quarterbacks since the start of the 2022 season.

Alexander Mattison…

Finds the end zone twice

Mattison got off to a terrible start this year. He averaged only 9.5 rushing attempts for 31 yards and 7.7 half-point PPR fantasy points per game over the first two weeks. However, things changed last week. The former Boise State star had a breakout performance against the Los Angeles Chargers.

After averaging only 3.3 yards per rushing attempt over the first two games, Mattison averaged 4.7 yards per attempt in Week 3. More importantly, he had 20 rushing attempts for 93 yards. The veteran also played a role in the passing game, totaling five receptions for 32 receiving yards. Despite not finding the end zone, Mattison scored 15 fantasy points last week.

However, that will change this week against the Carolina Panthers. The NFC South team has struggled to slow down opposing running backs, giving up over 4.6 yards per rushing attempt and 114.7 yards per game. More importantly, they have surrendered two rushing touchdowns to running backs in every game this season. After failing to have a rushing touchdown over the first three weeks, Mattison will score twice on Sunday.

Raheem Mostert…

And De’Von Achane struggle against the Buffalo Bills

The Miami Dolphins dropped 70 points on the Denver Broncos last week, thanks to their electric 1-2 punch at running back. Mostert entered the game with three touchdowns in 28 rushing attempts. However, the veteran had three touchdowns on 13 rushing attempts against the Broncos, adding another touchdown on his seven receptions.

Meanwhile, Achane didn’t play in Week 1 and had only two touches for nine scrimmage yards and 1.4 half-point PPR fantasy points in Week 2. However, he exploded against the Broncos while 99.9% of the fantasy football community had him on their bench. The rookie running back joined Billy Cannon as the only two players with over 200 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns, and two receiving touchdowns in the same game in NFL history.

However, the Dolphins running backs faced a Denver defense that surrendered two touchdowns and 27.9 fantasy points to Brian Robinson Jr. in Week 2. This week, they face a Buffalo defense that held Robinson to zero touchdowns and only seven fantasy points in Week 3. Furthermore, the Bills have surrendered only 11.5 fantasy points per game to running backs outside Breece Hall’s 83-yard run this year.

Ja’Marr Chase…

Has over 200 receiving yards

Cincinnati got in the win column last week against the Los Angeles Rams. More importantly, Joe Burrow and Chase got on the same page. The former LSU star had 10 receptions on 17 targets for 70 receiving yards and zero touchdowns in the first two weeks, scoring 12.2 half-point PPR fantasy points. Thankfully, Chase exploded on Monday night against the Rams.

The former LSU star had 12 receptions on 15 targets for 141 receiving yards in Week 3, scoring 20.1 fantasy points. He averaged nearly 12 yards per reception in the win. Meanwhile, Los Angeles had surrendered only 227 total receiving yards to wide receivers before facing the Bengals. Now, Chase takes on an awful Tennessee Titans secondary.

While the Titans have an elite run defense, their secondary is a fantasy goldmine. Tennessee has surrendered 230 receiving yards per game to wide receivers this season, the fourth-most in the NFL. They have given up over 214 receiving yards in every game. Chase didn’t play in the regular season matchup against the Titans last year. However, he did have 109 receiving yards on five receptions in the playoff game during the 2021 season.

Travis Kelce…

Scores two or more touchdowns against the New York Jets

Fantasy players and the Kansas City Chiefs missed Kelce in Week 1. Thankfully, the future Hall of Famer has been his typical superstar self since returning from the knee injury. He had only four receptions on nine targets for 26 receiving yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, the superstar did find the end zone, scoring 10.6 half-point PPR fantasy points in the win.

Last week, Kelce stepped up his game with Taylor Swift in the building. The superstar had seven receptions on eight targets for 69 receiving yards and a touchdown, scoring 16.4 fantasy points against the Chicago Bears. More importantly, he found the end zone for the second consecutive game despite playing under 65% of the snaps in both matchups.

After scoring a touchdown in both games this season, Kelce is prime to have at least two touchdowns Sunday night against the Jets. The superstar tight end has scored two or more touchdowns in 10 games in his career. Furthermore, he had a three-touchdown and a four-touchdown performance last season. Meanwhile, New York has surrendered three touchdowns to tight ends this season, the most in the NFL, giving up scores to Jake Ferguson, Luke Schoonmaker, and Pharaoh Brown.
