Cam Akers...
Records his second consecutive RB1 overall finish
Cam Akers has been much-maligned this season by fantasy managers. Akers scored only one touchdown and has not produced more than 61 rushing yards in a game through the first 12 weeks of the season. However, with the Rams continuing to recover from their Super Bowl hangover, Akers had given fantasy managers six touchdowns in the past four games, including three in Week 16 when he finished as the RB1 overall.
This week, Akers takes on the Los Angeles Chargers, who have been run on at a clip of 140.5 rushing yards per game this season. Akers continues his resurgence and finishes the fantasy season strong with an elite finish in Week 17.
Tyler Allgeier...
Produces another RB1 finish
The rookie running back has taken over the Atlanta Falcons backfield. Tyler Allgeier has produced consecutive 100-total-yard outings with 40 touches in those matchups. The Falcons' offense is not exciting, especially since fellow rookie Desmond Ridder took over behind center. However, volume is king, and Allgeier has been the king of snaps and touches in the Falcons' offense.
Allgeier has a juicy matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, who have allowed 128.7 rushing yards per game across the last three contests. Check that. Make that four contests with the rookie running back shredding the Cardinals' run defense this week.
Isaiah Hodgins...
It gives fantasy managers another week as a WR1
Daniel Jones and the New York Giants have suffered many injuries this season at the wide receiver position. As a result, the Giants were forced to bring in and give playing time to wideouts like Darius Slayton, Richie James, and Isaiah Hodgins. Hodgins has emerged from this group as a wide receiver that fantasy managers should not hesitate to have in their playoff lineups.
Hodgins had scored in three of the past four weeks, including his Week 16 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, when he caught eight balls on 11 targets for 89 yards and a score. Hodgins finished as the WR7 on the week and will welcome the Indianapolis Colts to New York in Week 17.
The Colts' defense is in the bottom five in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers, which bodes well for Hodgins to achieve another WR1 finish as the Giants attempt to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Cole Kmet...
Scores twice to help him finish as the TE1
Cole Kmet has seen his production slip as of late, coinciding with the shoulder injury suffered by quarterback Justin Fields. Kmet will look to rebound this week after not producing more than 27 receiving yards in consecutive weeks after the team's Week 14 bye week.
The former Notre Dame star has a tasty matchup and is a must-start this week as the Bears take on the Detroit Lions. In their previous matchup versus the Lions, Kmet produced four catches on seven targets for 74 yards and two touchdowns, resulting in a TE1 finish in Week 10. The Lions' defense did not improve since then and has surrendered the third-highest passing yards allowed average per game and has allowed the sixth most fantasy points allowed to tight ends on the season.
With Justin Fields looking healthier, Kmet leads the team in receptions and yards. Look for this trend to continue, with Kmet scoring twice again against the Lions on his way to a TE1 finish.
