Oregon quarterback Bo Nix and Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. are being compared to each other ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft, and it makes sense considering their similar collegiate career paths. Both signal-callers struggled early in their career at different schools but turned it around and blossomed into stars in the Pac-12.
However, projecting their draft capital and landing spots has been a difficult task all offseason. Each put up video game numbers over the last two years, but they will both be 24 years old when Week 1 of the 2024 season begins. Older prospects often slip later than expected, and we've seen QBs like Will Levis, Hendon Hooker, and Malik Willis dramatically fall down the draft in recent cycles. Monitoring where Nix and Penix are drafted is one of the key storylines of Thursday's event.
Will Nix and Penix be first-round picks? Where could they land on draft night? Let's dive in.

Will Bo Nix Be A First-Round Pick?
According to MockDraftDataBase.com, which takes data from hundreds of mock drafts, Nix is viewed as the consensus No. 32 overall player, and he has a 43.1% chance of being selected in the first round. After a record 61 collegiate starts, Nix should be ready to play right away, but there are plenty of questions about his ceiling in the NFL.

Naturally, none of the teams scheduled to pick beyond the No. 20 selection on Thursday need a starting quarterback. That said, a team like the Las Vegas Raiders, Minnesota Vikings, or Denver Broncos could trade back from their current first-round picks or up from their current second-round selections to target Nix.
Ultimately, he appears to be more likely to drop to Round 2, but it's still up in the air just a few days away from the draft.
Will Michael Penix Jr. Be A First-Round Pick?
MockDraftDataBase.com gives Penix a 44.3% chance to be drafted in Round 1, and he's the consensus No. 31 overall prospect in the class. Like Nix, the Raiders, Vikings, and Broncos come to mind, but Penix' also has a long history of injuries that might scare teams away.

He's viewed in a similar light as Nix, but he flashed his elite deep ball placement in his final collegiate season, something that is sure to "wow" scouts around the league.
