Usually, anybody who suggests starting a Jacksonville Jaguar in fantasy football should be considered borderline insane, but quarterback Blake Bortles might be the one exception to that rule. The third overall pick from last year's draft is finally starting to come into his own, and fantasy owners deflated by the bye week should consider taking a chance on him this week against the Buccaneers.
Bortles is averaging about 250 yards and 1.5 touchdowns per game and is putting up an average of 16 points per week in standard fantasy leagues. Tampa Bay is surrendering an average of two passing touchdowns per game this season, a nice little caveat for those who decide to roll with Bortles this week. Is he the most attractive of starting quarterback options? Of course not. But for those who have Cam Newton, Ryan Tannehill, Teddy Bridgewater, or Ryan Fitzpatrick and are looking for quarterback help this week, Bortles could be a nice addition to your team.
He's not going to put up Aaron Rodgers-type numbers, but he's gotten better every week. With a favorable matchup against a team that hasn't won at home since 2013, it makes sense to take a chance on him if you need to.
