ANALYSIS: After going through a little bit of a shooting slump, if you wish to call it that, Bennedict Mathurin returned to his 20+ scoring ways in his most recent couple of games facing the Warriors and the Cavs on Wednesday and Friday, finishing those matchups with 24 and 22 points, respectively.
I said "slump," but at the end of the day, Mathurin has failed to hit double-digit points just once (last Monday) since Nov. 27 while he's connected 46-of-118 (39%) shots from the floor in December. The percentage isn't good, I know, but it's not that you can hit many more shots while you're launching 5+ 3PA per game.
On the season, the Pacers rookie is boasting a more palatable 42/36/80 shooting split while attempting 13+ FGA and 5+ 3PA per game. Only 62 players are shooting as many rocks a pop, and just 43 in the NBA are doing so while both connecting on 42% or more from the floor and attempting 5+ treys per matchup.
The microwave-shooter profile is there, and there will it remain no matter what happens with Mathurin's role going forward. On the rest of the cats, though, the rookie is still a bit green. The rebounds aren't bad at 4+ RPG on the season, but they're quite bouncy and random with nights in which he grabs a couple and others in which he goes for eight-plus.
Not many turnovers on his game logs and a near 1:1 assists-to-turnover rate help his upside, too. He should rebound from that early-December slump and hit more shots (he mainly dropped his production from beyond the arc in that span) in the next few days and weeks.

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues ROSTERED IN: 8% of leagues ANALYSIS: The surge of Deni Avdija in all fantasy leaderboards has a very easy-to-grasp reason and that's Kyle Kuzma missing time with an injury.
