Ben Zobrist has yet to be traded out of Oakland but the shortstop could be heading to the Kansas City Royals, according to The Kansas City Star.
The AL Central leading Royals will be involved in the trade talks for Zobrist “until the end,” according to the report. Since the 34-year-old can play just about any position and play them all well, it’s no telling where he’ll end up landing.
Even with Johnny Cueto on board, don't think KC is done adding. Hearing they're expected to stay in on Ben Zobrist until the end.

The MLB Trade Deadline is on July 31. The clock is ticking for teams to step up but it’s almost 100 percent that Zobrist will no longer be playing for the A’s come Aug. 1. He’s an unrestricted free agent after this season and he plays for an Oakland franchise that is always moving pieces every year at the deadline.
Kansas City already made a huge splash on Sunday when it acquired Johnny Cueto from the Cincinnati Reds. Cueto will become the ace of the Royals staff, which will make up for the team’s struggles during last year’s World Series run that had little help from the starting rotation. If the Royals could land Zobrist, they will add depth to an already solid offense.
Zobrist has 6 HR with 33 RBI and a .268 BA in 67 games played this season. Throughout his career, he’s made two All-Star teams and had a few seasons of 20-plus HR and 90-plus RBI.
Sean Manaea or Miguel Almonte are two highly touted pitching prospects that the Royals have for trade bait whether they’re used to land Zobrist or anybody else. Kansas City is well on its way to the postseason, which means the team is all in for 2015.
Other teams included in the hunt for Zobrist are the Nationals, Yankees, Mets, Royals, Cubs, Angels, Pirates, Giants and the Orioles.
