BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 23% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Chicago Cubs utility player Ben Zobrist may be on the back nine of his career, but that does not mean that he is an ineffective fantasy option. On Saturday, Zobrist reached base in four of his five trips to the plate, with a pair of singles and a pair of walks. That quintessentially Zobrist performance pushed his season line to .297/.394/.439.
The counting stats are modest, but that may change if the veteran continues to bat in the three-hole as he has been lately. Hitting in a position for run production with the Cubs is a very good thing, but fantasy owners need to be mindful that his time in the three hole may be restricted to Kris Bryant's DL stint.
Regardless, the 37-year-old is exactly the type of boring old guy you will often find on successful fantasy squads. If nothing else, most of us could use a boost to the ol’ batting average in the current environment. He is a good addition in deeper leagues, particularly considering that he has eligibility at multiple positions.
