ANALYSIS: New York Yankees prospect Ben Rice has been making noise at Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre since his promotion two weeks ago. And his production after his promotion was well-timed as the Yankees have a major need at first base as a result of the injury to Anthony Rizzo.

The Yankees just announced yesterday that starting first baseman Rizzo would miss 4-6 weeks with a fractured forearm. Rice was promoted today to take Rizzo's spot on the roster and likely in the lineup as well, as the Yankees hope that his hot bat can help fill the void left behind by Rizzo's absence.
Rice has made 22 starts this season at first base between Double-A and Triple-A, and as a left-handed hitter, he could fit the mold of exactly what the Yankees need to replace the production of Rizzo, though we may see DJ LeMahieu play there against LHP.
Ben Rice is the Yankees' latest MiLB promotion, and here's a quick overview on what to like and what to worry about in his profile.

Rice is a 25-year-old catcher prospect who began the year at Double-A, where he hit 12 home runs and swiped eight bases in 49 games. He was promoted to Triple-A on June 5th and has posted a .333 average with three home runs, 10 RBI, and an elite 1.059 OPS in his first 11 games.
Whether or not he becomes the everyday first baseman will likely have a lot to do with how well he fares against major league pitching, but for now, he's well worth an add in deeper formats as he's going to slot into the lineup behind some of the best hitters in baseball.
