Houston Texans - NFL Betting Analysis

Heading into week 3, the Texans will look to get back in the win column, as they are coming off a 16-9 loss to the Denver Broncos. Despite the loss, Houston picked up an ATS win. The team entered the game as 10.0 point underdogs. The team's combined scoring of 25 points fell below the posted betting line of 45. In the losing effort, the Texans blew a 3 point lead heading into the 4th quarter, as Denver outscored them by 10 in the final period.

The Texans 9 points was a below average figure compared to last year's squad that averaged 16.47 points per game. Houston ran the ball 18 times, finishing with 80 yards. Dameon Pierce led the team with 69 rush yards and did not find the endzone.

Quarterback Davis Mills struggled to move the ball in the passing game, finishing with just 177 through the air and a passer rating of 63.16. In addition to struggling to move the ball through the air, Mills was not able to score a touchdown. Nico Collins was the team's leader in the passing game, finishing with 58 yards and 4 catches. As a team, Houston ranks 24th in the number of pass yards per game, averaging 188.0 per game. This season, 59.06% of the team's offensive plays have come through the pass, placing them 12th in the NFL.

Currently, the Texans defense is ranked just 31st in overall yards allowed. So far, the team's defense has allowed 2 scores through the air and 1 on the ground. Overall, opposing QB's have a passer rating of 75.18 vs the defense, which is 75.18 lowest in the NFL.

 

Chicago Bears - NFL Betting Analysis

Heading into week 3, the Bears will look to get back in the win column, as they are coming off a 27-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Chicago entered the game as 10.5 point underdogs on the spread. The two teams combined point total of 37 remained below the betting line of 42. The Bears were not able to make a comeback in last week's game, as they trailed Green Bay by a score of 24-10 heading into the final quarter.

Although Fields did not find the en Equanimeous St. Brown led Chicago in the passing game with 39 receiving yards. On average, Chicago has thrown the ball 14.0 times per game, placing them 32nd in the league. Going into the game, the Bears have thrown a total of 2.0 interceptions, coming on a passing completion percentage of 55.35% (29th).

Currently, the Bears defense is ranked just 22nd in overall yards allowed. So far, the team's defense has allowed 2 scores through the air and 2 on the ground. Opposing quarterbacks have put together an average passer rating of 85.89 vs the team's defense.
