ANALYSIS: Garcia's 2019 season is shaping up a lot like his out-of-nowhere 2017 campaign, where he slashed a blistering .330/.380/.506 with 18 home runs and 80 RBI, thanks to a bloated .392 BABIP. So far in 2019 he's hitting .304/.351/.551 with four round-trippers and 10 RBI, with a .386 BABIP.
Garcia is striking out at a 28.4% clip, nearly 10% higher than he did in 2017. That, plus the unlikeliness that he will sustain a ridiculous BABIP for a second year, point to some regression coming toward his batting average. However, his power looks very real, as he has a .246 ISO and a career-high 39.6% hard hit rate.
He's also already tacked on a pair of steals this year, and while I doubt he will blow away his career high of seven, he could reach a 20/10 season if he stays healthy. Expect that batting average to come crashing down into the .250 range, but even with that he's still worth a look in 14-teamers and maybe even 12-teamers, at least while he's hot at the plate.
