Mathew Barzal Has Assist In Loss
New York Islanders center Mathew Barzal may be the one to make fans forget about ol' John Tavares. He tried to do that on Saturday night, assisting on a goal, but it wasn't enough as Nashville beat them, 4-3. Barzal is a great player to have on your roster, though. Start him anytime he's playing.
Michael Griffin 6 years agoJosh Bailey Has Two Assists But Isles Lose
New York Islanders right wing Josh Bailey did what he could on Saturday night, assisting on two goals, but it wasn't enough as his team fell, 4-3. Bailey will be looking to build on his 2017 season, one that saw him get a career-high 53 assists. You could do a lot worse than to have […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoThomas Greiss Lets In Four Goals In Loss
New York Islanders goalie Thomas Greiss had a game on Saturday that might be more his norm as the Predators scored four against him in a 4-3 loss. He allowed two right after the Isles had knotted the game at two in the third. Yes, he did keep Nashville off the board in the third […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoHenrik Lundqvist Gives Up Two Third-Period Goals In Loss
New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist was looking good for the first two periods of Thursday's game against Nashville, only allowing one goal. Then he surrendered one to P.K. Subban and then a late one to Colton Sissons which all but cemented the loss. The Rangers know that they are in a rebuilding year - […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoValtteri Filppula Scores Goal As Islanders Beat Hurricanes
New York Islanders center Valterri Filppula scored the first goal of the post-John Taveres era on Thursday. It was only fitting that it was a center who did it. This won't be that much of a problem position for the team, what with Mathew Barzal ready to take the torch. Barzal had an assist, helping […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoJosh Bailey Scores Game-Winning Overtime Goal Vs. Hurricanes
New York Islanders left winger Josh Bailey, who is more of an assists kind of player, was able to get the puck in the net on Thursday, scoring the game-winner in overtime. Bailey is a good player, though he didn't crack our initial list of the Top 75 forwards. Still, the 10-year veteran won't hurt […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoThomas Greiss Has Strong Game As Isles Win In Overtime
New York Islanders goalie Thomas Greiss got the nod as the No. 1 goalie this season more or less because of the fact that he was not quite as terrible as Robin Lehner was during the preseason. Yeah. That's not an encouraging sign for Islanders fans or fantasy players. For one night, though, he was […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoJohan Camargo Drives In Two Runs In Romp
Atlanta Braves third baseman Johan Camargo continues to show the team why it was right to jettison Jose Bautista after he came back. He went 4-for-5 on Friday night and drove in two runs. Camargo also scored two runs, so it was a very bountiful day for anyone who started him. He's still a very […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoEnder Inciarte Continues Hot Tear With Four RBI
It seems fitting that you can use part of Atlanta Braves outfielder Ender Inciarte's last name to spell incendiary - he's been on fire lately. The outfielder went 2-for-5 on Friday night and had four RBI. He's still a speed man, but he's already driven in as many RBI (8) this month as he did […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoNick Markakis Drives In Three Runs As Atlanta Crushes Brewers
Atlanta Braves outfielder Nick Markakis is having a good sort of competition with Freddie Freeman - they seem to be dueling to see who can drive in the most runs. Markakis drove in three runs on Friday night to give him 73 RBI for the season, two more than Freeman, who drove in one himself […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoOzzie Albies Scores Two Runs As Braves Romp
Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies didn't have a hit on Friday night, but he still scored twice, courtesy of walking three times. Albies is already showing that he can get it done with both his bat and his legs - he stole a base, No. 12. Both times he crossed the plate were thanks […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoKevin Gausman Goes Eight Innings To Beat Brewers
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Kevin Gausman had a very economical start on Friday, throwing 94 pitches over his eight innings of work. He struck out eight and walked none. It was his best outing in a long time, since early May, back when he was with Baltimore. He'll get another chance to impress his next […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoAnibal Sanchez Exits Game After Being Hit By Comebacker
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez suffered a contusion on his left calf when he was hit by a comebacker off the bat of Michael Taylor in the second inning of Thursday's game. He got the out, the third of the frame, but was removed for precautionary measures. If he turns out to be hurt […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoMike Foltynewicz Nearly Goes Six Innings For Win
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Mike Foltynewicz labored through his start on Wednesday against the Nationals, throwing 109 pitches over the course of 5 2/3 innings. He gave up three runs, but only one was earned. The righty struck out seven and walked two. It was his second consecutive good start and he'll likely face the […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoRonald Acuna Hits Monster Blast As Braves Romp
Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna showed everyone again on Wednesday why he's such a heralded prospect. First, he went deep... very, very deep... with a 452-foot two-run homer to center field. Sadly, there were no extra fantasy points for distance. He also did something that won't show up in the box score, but he did […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoMax Fried Exits Game After Being Hit By Line Drive
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Max Fried was hit on Tuesday by a line drive off the bat of Spencer Kieboom - he got the out to end the inning and walked off. The following is possibly the weirdest sentence in fantasy baseball history: Kevin Gausman, the pitcher who spent his whole career in the American […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoNick Markakis Has Monster Day To Help Braves Win In Extras
Atlanta Braves outfielder Nick Markakis continues to chug along. He went 4-for-5 on Sunday afternoon and hit a homer in the tenth that snapped a 4-4 tie and proved to be the winning run. Markakis has been one of the most valuable hitters for the Braves and for fantasy players - he's helped settle down […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoJulio Teheran Hits Homer As Braves Win In Extra Innings
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Julio Teheran probably didn't care that he got a no-decision on Sunday after going 5 2/3 innings and giving up three runs. He was probably still giddy about connecting for his first homer of the season, a solo shot off Corey Oswalt. Teheran struck out six, but he also walked four. […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoAnibal Sanchez Outduels Jacob deGrom For Win
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez drew a tough pitching matchup on Friday night - Mets ace Jacob deGrom. Fortunately for Sanchez, the New York hitters seem to be allergic to giving deGrom more than a run of support. The veteran righty muzzled the Mets for one run over six innings. Ironically, it was deGrom […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoA.J. Minter Nails Down Save No. 7
It still looks like Atlanta Braves relief pitcher A.J. Minter is the closer for the team while everyone waits to see if Arodys Vizcaino will return this year - though that window is rapidly getting smaller. Minter struck out two in the ninth on Thursday to get his seventh save of the season. If you […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoAdam Duvall Scores Run In First Game As Brave
Atlanta Braves outfielder Adam Duvall had a pretty decent first game in an Atlanta uniform, scoring a run. He was removed in the eighth for a late-inning defensive switch, with Ronald Acuna, who had a strong game himself with two runs scored and a stolen base, taking his spot in left field.
Michael Griffin 6 years agoJohan Camargo Drives In Two Runs In Win
Atlanta Braves third baseman Johan Camargo has been an RBI machine of late. He continued that trend on Thursday, driving in two runs to help Atlanta win, 4-2. Camargo, who knocked in 20 runs in the month of June and 11 in July, has started off August on a good foot. If you need a […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoOzzie Albies Drives In Run As Braves Beat Mets
Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies is getting back into the swing of things after missing time with a hamstring injury. He went 2-for-4 with an RBI on Thursday and even had a stolen base as the Braves won, 4-2. Albies is a must-start at second base when he's healthy and in the lineup.
Michael Griffin 6 years agoMike Foltynewicz Goes Six Innings To Get Win Against Mets
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Mike Foltynewicz had looked shaky his past several outings. He was more like his early-season self on Thursday night, giving up two runs over six innings while striking out five and walking one. This is a New York team that seems to have run up the white flag on the season, […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoNick Markakis Hits Homer As Braves Rout Marlins
Atlanta Braves outfielder Nick Markakis is still having one heck of a year. He hit homer No. 12 on Tuesday night. Overall, he went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. After this series, he's going to be going up against a Mets team who were utterly humiliated by Washington. You had best keep […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoRonald Acuna Hits Another Homer In Win
It's very premature to compare Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna to Rickey Henderson, but he has taken to his perch atop the batting order. He blasted a first-inning homer on Tuesday night, the first time that he's done that to start off the first time the Braves bat in a game. It was homer No. […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoKolby Allard Goes Five Innings And Gets Win in ML Debut
It was a night that 20-year-old Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Kolby Allard would forever remember. He had to wait through a lengthy rain delay on Tuesday to make his first Major League start - a spot one - and he pitched fairly well for being so green. He went five innings, gave up five runs, […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoA.J. Minter Gets Save No. 6 Against Marlins
Atlanta Braves relief pitcher A.J. Minter may just be holding a seat for Arodys Vizcaino, but who knows what's going to happen there, as Vizcaino has not proven himself to be durable. Whatever the case, he got the nod over the new arrival, Brad Brach, on Monday and struck out two in the ninth to […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoBrad Brach Effective In First Atlanta Outing
There were some who thought a change of scenery would help new Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Brad Brach. He certainly made a good first impression on Monday night, hurling a scoreless inning for a hold, as Atlanta won, 5-3. Brach had a dreadful July ... here's hoping that he can turn things around. It looks […]
Michael Griffin 6 years agoRonald Acuna Hits Homer As Braves Win
Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna is one of the reasons why the team thinks it can be in contention for many years. He showed why again, clubbing his tenth homer of the season on Monday. It was a solo shot and he now has 25 RBI. One of the best things the Braves did was […]
