After going 0-for-9 since returning from being hit in the helmet, Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant tripled to lead off the bottom of the sixth inning for the Cubs. Bryant finished the game 1-for-3 with a run and walk. Bryant remains one of the better offensive players in all formats.

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner (finger) could begin throwing off a bullpen mound in a couple of weeks, according to manager Bruce Bochy. Bumgarner will meet with doctors Tuesday and if everything goes well, he will begin his throwing program. Bumgarner is expected back in early June if all goes well.

San Francisco Giants outfielder Mac Williamson (concussion) has been placed on the seven-day disabled list with a concussion. Williamson has hitting everything since Sprint Training and it his concussion comes at a tough time as he was finally getting playing time.

San Francisco Giants third baseman Evan Longoria will be on the bench for game one of Saturday’s doubleheader. Longoria has been in a bit of a slump, but picked up two hits including a home run on Friday. Pablo Sandoval will replace Longoria and bat fifth.

The Chicago Cubs have activated second baseman Ben Zobrist from the disabled list. Zobrist had been out the past ten days with a back injury. He will start second base this afternoon seventh. Infielder David Bote was sent down to Triple-A to make space for Zobrist.

The San Francisco Giants have promoted outfield prospect Austin Slater. Slater got a cup of coffee with the big league club in 2017 and hit .282 in 117 at-bats. Playing time may be limited for Slater, but he projects as the club’s future center fielder.

San Francisco Giants outfielder Mac Williamson (neck) remains out of the Giants lineup. Williamson was a late scratch Wednesday with neck stiffness and will be replaced by Gorkys Hernandez Friday. Multiple reports also say that Giants outfield prospect Austin Slater is with the club which could mean bad news for Williamson.

Chicago Cubs outfielder Albert Almora Jr. extended his hit streak to ten games Friday afternoon. Almora has settled in at the top of the Cubs order and finished 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Chicago Cubs second baseman/outfielder Ben Zobrist (back) expects to be activated on Saturday. Zobrist ran the bases on Thursday and had no issues. It will be interesting to see how much playing time he will get once he is active, as Albert Almora seems to have a firm grip in center field for now.
