Trevor Bauer Pulled After Seven No-Hit Innings
Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Trevor Bauer threw seven no-hit innings on Thursday, striking out eight while walking six. After finishing the seventh inning at 117 pitches, it was an easy decision for manager Terry Francona to go to the bullpen. Bauer has been amazing this season and isn't showing any signs of slowing down.
David A Marcillo 6 years agoLuke Gregerson To Begin a Rehab Assignment
St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Luke Gregerson (shoulder) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Palm Beach. He's been stricken with shoulder injuries since last season, but he and the team are hoping this time he'll be back throwing for good. He should be able to work his way into a setup role […]
David A Marcillo 6 years agoJose Martinez Has Nothing to Show for Five At-Bats on Wednesday
St. Louis Cardinals infielder/outfielder Jose Martinez came up empty on Wednesday, finishing 0-for-5. That brought his line to .077/.077/.154. With Paul Goldschmidt holding down first base and a group of talented outfielders on the squad as well, Martinez is going to need to turn it on soon if he wants to keep seeing semi-regular at […]
David A Marcillo 6 years agoHarrison Bader Goes Yard Again on Wednesday
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Harrison Bader hit his second home run of the season on Wednesday, ending up 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and two RBI. Bader is hitting .263/.333/.579 but flashing more upside than that. The hype train is getting ready to leave the station, so get on board before it does. […]
David A Marcillo 6 years agoDakota Hudson Picks Up a Save on Wednesday
St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Dakota Hudson picked up his first save on Wednesday, recording the last two outs of the Cardinals extra-inning win. He walked a batter but retired the other two he faced, wrapping up the 10th inning. Hudson could see significant late-game innings this season, but he's not at the top of […]
David A Marcillo 6 years agoMiles Mikolas Allows Three Runs in Five Innings on Wednesday
St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Miles Mikolas tossed five innings on Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He gave up three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out two. Mikolas isn't off to the start he or his fantasy owners wanted, as he'll take a 7.20 ERA into his next start. Still, we […]
David A Marcillo 6 years agoMarcell Ozuna Scratched From Wednesday's Lineup
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Marcell Ozuna has been scratched from Wednesday's starting lineup due to tightness in his right side. Ozuna is off to a .238/.273/.286 start, so maybe a day off was in order anyway. There isn't any further information about the severity of Ozuna's injury, so he should be considered day-to-day for now.
David A Marcillo 6 years agoEric Stamets Remains Hitless
Cleveland Indians shortstop Eric Stamets went 0-for-3 on Wednesday and is now hitless in 13 plate appearances this season. Stamets was always a glove-first infielder, hitting around or under .200 in several of his minor league seasons. He's only starting in Cleveland because of Francisco Lindor's injury. Once Lindor returns, Stamets is unlikely to see […]
David A Marcillo 6 years agoHanley Ramirez Hits a Home Run on Wednesday
Cleveland Indians designated hitter Hanley Ramirez hit a home run on Wednesday, finishing 1-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI. It's obviously a small sample, but Ramirez has a .904 OPS in the early going and likely remains on many league's waiver wires. Teams could do worse than to look at him as an […]
David A Marcillo 6 years agoCorey Kluber Struggles and Picks Up His Second Loss
Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Corey Kluber struggled on Wednesday, allowing six runs (four earned) on eight hits and three walks while striking out four in 3 1/3 innings. It was the most un-Kluber start possible, as he took his second loss and saw his ERA move to 5.23. Kluber struggled in Cactus League play as […]
David A Marcillo 6 years agoThursday's Cardinals Game Postponed
The St. Louis Cardinals have postponed their home opener due to expected inclement weather. The game was supposed to take place on Thursday but will now be played on Friday instead. David A Marcillo 6 years agoBrad Hand Saves His Second Game of the Season on Monday
Cleveland Indians closer Brad Hand closed out Monday's win over the Chicago White Sox, earning his second save. Hand struck out two in a hitless inning. He threw 13 of his 20 pitches for strikes and has yet to allow a run this season. He should be one of the better fantasy closers in the […]
David A Marcillo 6 years agoMike Clevinger Dominates the White Sox on Monday
Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Mike Clevinger dominated the White Sox on Monday, allowing just one hit and three walks in seven innings while striking out a dozen. Clevinger looked sharp all afternoon and threw 62 of his 106 pitches for strikes. He was denied a win by his bullpen, but it was still an outstanding […]
David A Marcillo 6 years agoKolten Wong Goes Yard on Monday
St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Kolten Wong hit a home run on Monday, his third of the season. He ended up 1-for-4 with a walk and two RBI. After an excellent Opening Day, Wong is hitting .500/.550/1.056. He has nice upside, but will clearly come down to Earth before long.
David A Marcillo 6 years agoYadier Molina Struggles Again on Monday
St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina struggled again on Monday, finishing 0-for-5 with a walk and a strikeout. Molina did play third base for an inning, making something exciting happen, but he's now hitting .050/.174/.100. He'll obviously improve, but it's not the start he, the Cardinals, or Molina's fantasy owners wanted to see.
David A Marcillo 6 years agoMatt Carpenter Dons a Golden Sombrero on Monday
St. Louis Cardinals infielder Matt Carpenter struck out four times on Monday, finishing 0-for-5 with a walk. He ended his day with an ejection in extra innings. Carpenter is hitting at the top of the lineup for a strong offense, so he should be a fine fantasy contributor, but he's off to a slow start […]
David A Marcillo 6 years agoJohn Gant Picks Up a Save on Monday
St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher John Gant picked up his first save of the season on Monday, tossing a scoreless inning while allowing just a walk. Gant won't be the usual closer for the Cardinals, but Andrew Miller and Jordan Hicks had already been used in Monday's extra-inning game, so Gant was the next guy […]
David A Marcillo 6 years agoJordan Hicks Picks Up a Win With Two Scoreless Innings on Monday
St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Jordan Hicks picked up his first win of the season on Monday, tossing two scoreless innings. He allowed just one walk and struck out two. Hicks had a rough outing on Sunday, but came out firing on Monday. One of the more interesting fantasy relievers, Hicks will have Andrew Miller […]

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright allowed four runs on four hits and four walks in four innings on Monday. He struck out three but only threw 37 of his 72 pitches for strikes. St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Jack Flaherty only lasted 4 1/3 innings on Friday, allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk. He struck out four and needed 89 pitches to get his 13 outs. St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt hit three home runs on Friday, finishing 4-for-5 with a walk, five RBI, and three runs scored. David A Marcillo 6 years agoCorey Kluber Takes a Loss on Opening Day
Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Corey Kluber took a tough loss on Opening Day as his offense couldn't score any runs in a 2-0 game. David A Marcillo 6 years agoHarrison Bader Hits an Opening Day Home Run
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Harrison Bader hit a home run on Opening Day, finishing 2-for-3. Bader hit eighth in this one, but he's likely to force his way up in the lineup and carries some legitimate sleeper appeal in mixed leagues. The Harrison Hype Train is gaining steam, jump on before it gets too full.
David A Marcillo 6 years agoKolten Wong Hits Two Home Runs on Opening Day
St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Kolten Wong drove in three runs on Opening Day, hitting two home runs and finishing 2-for-3 before being replaced by a pinch hitter. Wong came out of the gates scorching hot, but fantasy players shouldn't look too deep into one game. Wong is a solid fantasy second baseman, but not […]

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Miles Mikolas struggled on Opening Day, allowing five runs on five hits and a walk in five innings of work. Mikolas coughed up five home runs and struck out just three batters. There's a legitimate chance this will be Mikolas' worst start of the season, his fantasy owners shouldn't worry […]

Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Adam Plutko was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Thursday. Plutko filled in for a few games as a starter last season, but struggled to a 5.28 ERA. He'll serve as rotation depth at Triple-A, but will likely see at least a few starts if injuries strike the Cleveland starting rotation. He […]

David A Marcillo 6 years agoCorey Kluber Gets Lit Up in the Fourth Inning on Sunday
Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Corey Kluber gave up five runs in 3 2/3 innings on Sunday. He made it through the first three innings just fine, but the fourth inning hit him hard. His ERA in the Cactus League is now 9.82, but it's spring training, and no one cares (yet). It could knock him […]
David A Marcillo 6 years agoDavid Marcillo's Bold Predictions for Closers
Fantasy sports can be just as frustrating as they can be fun, and few positions encompass that more than a fantasy baseball relief pitcher. A reliever can go from a fantasy darling to a completely meaningless name in your lineup overnight. And that's without an injury causing the issue. With the recent trend of not […]
