Adam Erhardt - RotoBaller

388 articles

My name is Adam Erhardt and I am excited to be part of the RotoBaller family. Like many of our RotoBaller subscribers, my passion for fantasy stemmed from my love of sports growing up, particularly football. Despite my love for the sport, being a lifelong Buffalo Bills and University of Kentucky fan made for some very challenging years growing up. Nevertheless my loyalty remained strong. After seeing that I was as committed to following the sport in week 14 as I was in week 1 (despite the Bills struggles throughout the 2000's), a friend of mine suggested I give fantasy football a try. After looking more into what fantasy was, I decided to give play and immediately became hooked. Playing fantasy football changed my life. While some people hunt, some golf, and some fish, my hobby became fantasy football. As the years passed, and as my love for fantasy grew stronger, I decided to branch out beyond just football. In some situations, like in the case of basketball, this experiment went pretty well for me. In other situations, like in the case of hockey, things went poorly. Regardless of the results, each new sport taught me more and more about this hobby that I love, and made me hungry for more, a hunger that led me to the sport of NASCAR. Although I was not raised on NASCAR, there was something about the sport that always intrigued me. From the fan culture, to the skillset that it takes to driver cars at such a highspeed, I always had a great deal of respect for the sport of NASCAR. Because of this I thought it would be worth giving NASCAR DFS a try. While I figured it would be a fun trial, I did not expect to love it as much as I did. For the first time in my life I found myself watching races intently. The more and more I played, the more and more I started to become a fan of the sport both in the real world and in the fantasy world. In my opinion, there is no fantasy sport that has the gamesmanship and strategery that NASCAR DFS has. While the sport of football will always be my first love, and while I always appreciate the skillset that it takes to be successful at fantasy sport, there is something about fantasy NASCAR that separates it from all others. The love and passion that I have for all things fantasy (and for NASCAR fantasy in particular) is what led me to want to become part of the fantasy industry. As someone who has personally experienced how DFS can change someone's life for the better, I feel it is my turn to give back to the fantasy community in any way possible. This is why I am so grateful and excited to join the award winning NASCAR news team at RotoBaller.com, and why I look forward to working with each of you in this wild and crazy game we all love.

Should You Play Martin Truex Jr. In DFS This Weekend?

Martin Truex Jr. will start P11 in Sunday's Shriners Children's 500 at Phoenix Raceway. In his 36 Cup starts at "The Jewel of the Desert," Truex has just one win, an average finish of 15.3, and five DNFs, which is the second most in the series. While these results are certainly underwhelming, there is a […]

The Case For Brad Keselowski At Phoenix

Brad Keselowski will start 18th in Sunday's Shriners Children's 500 at Phoenix Raceway. Despite still being in the early portion of the NASCAR schedule, this is an important race for the RFK driver-owner as the team has struggled this season. Given that Keselowski is 28th in the playoff standings and that his teammate Chris Buescher […]

Denny Hamlin Will Start On The Pole At Phoenix

Following a top 10 performance last weekend at Las Vegas, Denny Hamlin backed it up Saturday afternoon by qualifying on the pole for Sunday's Shriners Children's 500 at Phoenix Raceway. Even before practice and qualifying, Hamlin entered the weekend as one of the betting favorites (+900 on DraftKings Sportsbooks) likely due to his two previous […]

Kaz Grala Will Start 32nd In Sunday’s Shriners Children’s 500 At Phoenix

After struggling to find speed during qualifying, Kaz Grala will start 32nd in Sunday's Shriners Children's 500 at Phoenix Raceway. Heading into this weekend's race, there is little to get excited about when it comes to Grala. With this being his first Cup start at Phoenix, his past performances in the Xfinity Series at this […]

Ty Gibbs Will Start On The Front Row At Phoenix

Ty Gibbs will start second in Sunday's Shriners Children's 500 at Phoenix Raceway. In his previous two Cup starts in Maricopa County, Gibbs has struggled. Not only is his average finish 24.5, but he lost a combined 24 points in place differential in these two contests. While these results are concerning, the one thing we […]

Analyzing Chase Elliott's Performance on Flat Banked Tracks: Is He Worth Playing?

On Saturday afternoon, Chase Elliott qualified third for the Shriners Children's 500 at Phoenix Raceway. In November 2020, Elliott won his only Cup Series championship at this track and then followed it up by finishing fifth in both 2021 races. However, since this impressive run, and more importantly, since the launch of the NextGen car, […]

Josh Berry Is A Core Play At Phoenix

After making contact with the wall during Saturday's qualifying, Josh Berry will start 36th in Sunday's Shriners Children's 500 at Phoenix Raceway. In his only Cup start at "The Jewel of the Desert" (March 2023), Berry finished 10th and scored 42.35 points on DraftKings. Two weeks later, at Richmond, a flat track similar to Phoenix, […]

Ross Chastain Earns Fourth Top-Five Finish In Last Five Trips To Vegas

On Sunday evening, Ross Chastain finished fourth in the Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Sunday's victory marks the Watermelon Man's fourth top-five finish in the last five trips to the Nevada desert, which will make him a driver to keep an eye on when the Cup Series returns here […]

Despite Car Overheating, William Byron Finishes In Top 10

William Byron finished 10th in Sunday's Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. While a 10th place finish for a guy who was considered among the favorites to win the race may not seem noteworthy, in Byron's case it is. After a piece of debris (reported to be a trash bag) […]

Should We Consider Betting On Christopher Bell This Weekend At Las Vegas?

After crashing out of last week's race at Atlanta, Christopher Bell bounced back on Saturday afternoon by qualifying 10th for the Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube. Bell's performance in qualifying should come as no surprise, as he has qualified in the top-10 in all four of the previous races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway […]

How Much Exposure Should You Have To Bubba Wallace This Weekend?

Coming off of back-to-back fifth-place finishes, Bubba Wallace will look to continue his momentum on Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where he will start fifth in the Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube. Despite the hot start he is off to in 2024, look for things to cool down for him this weekend when […]

John Hunter Nemechek Will Start 27th At Las Vegas Motor Speedway

On Saturday afternoon, John Hunter Nemechek qualified 27th for Sunday's Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube. While it is always important to pay attention to how a driver performs in practice and in qualifying, for John Hunter Nemechek this is perhaps the most important indicator we have for determining if we can use him in […]

Just How Good Is Denny Hamlin On Low Tire-Wear Tracks?

Denny Hamlin will start 28th in Sunday's Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube. Throughout his Cup career, Las Vegas Motor Speedway has been a good track for the 20-year Cup veteran. While a driver's past success at a track can sometimes be misleading, particularly given how the sport changed with the introduction of the NextGen […]

Is Ty Gibbs Worth Rostering In DFS This Weekend At Las Vegas?

Ty Gibbs will start eighth at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Sunday's Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube. Despite having a win at this track in Xfinity (March of 2022), his Cup appearances at Las Vegas have been disastrous. In his three Cup starts at the "Diamond in the Desert," Gibbs' average finish is 26th […]

Will Chase Elliott's Early Season Struggles Continue This Weekend?

After an underwhelming performance in his home state of Georgia last weekend, Chase Elliott will look to get his season on track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway when he starts 11th in Sunday's Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube. Despite starting off the season with finishes of 14th (Daytona) and 15th (Atlanta), Elliott remains among […]

Alex Bowman Is A Core Play At Las Vegas

On Saturday morning, Alex Bowman qualified 23rd for the Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube. After a disappointing race last weekend at Atlanta, a trip to Las Vegas Motor Speedway has got to get the Hendrick Motorsports star excited, as this is a track he has performed well at in recent years. Over his last […]

Bubba Wallace Starts 2024 Off With Back-To-Back Top Five Finishes

For the second consecutive week, Bubba Wallace finished in fifth place, this time at Atlanta Motor Speedway. While race fans have come to expect big performances from the 23XI star at Daytona, the expectations were not nearly as high heading to Atlanta. Despite a 2022 reconfiguration designed to make the track race more like Daytona, […]

Despite Poor Finish, Todd Gilliland Has Big Day At Atlanta

Despite leading a race-high 58 laps, Todd Gilliland finished 26th in Sunday's Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. In a race that was chaotic from the start, Gilliland was able to avoid much of the early race carnage until a multi-car accident with 20 laps to go took him out of the top 10. […]

Can Martin Truex Jr. Snap Toyota's Drought At Atlanta?

Martin Truex Jr. has qualified 12th for Sunday's Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, making him the highest starting Toyota on the slate. Despite having 34 Cup wins, Truex has never won at Atlanta. While he has finished in the top 10 in 46% of his starts at this track, his overall average finish […]

Despite Poor Qualifying, Daniel Suarez Is A Core Play In DFS This Weekend

After failing to find speed in qualifying, Daniel Suarez qualified 23rd in Sunday's Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Because of Atlanta's new configuration, which relies heavily on drafting and pact racing, there was no practice session for the Cup series before qualifying. With drivers given just one lap to showcase their speed, do […]

Should You Limit Your Exposure To Kyle Larson This Weekend In DFS?

Following an 11th-place finish in the Daytona 500, Kyle Larson qualified fifth for the Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Despite a strong showing on Monday, throughout his Cup career, Larson has been unimpressive when NASCAR goes restrictor plate racing, averaging 22nd-place finishes at both Daytona and Talladega. His finishes look even worse when […]

Is Erik Jones The Core Play In DFS This Weekend At Atlanta?

Erik Jones will have his work cut out for him on Sunday as he will start 37th in the Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. After a top-10 finish at Daytona, Jones comes to Atlanta with high expectations and well-deserved hype. Over the last four races at this track, the 27-year-old has two top-10 […]

Denny Hamlin Looking To Bounce Back At Atlanta

NASCAR's favorite villain, Denny Hamlin, will start 13th in Sunday's Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. After finishing 19th at Daytona, the 20-year Cup veteran will look to bounce back this weekend when the Cup Series goes restrictor-plate racing for the second straight week. Despite his reputation on this style of track, Hamlin's struggles […]

Ty Gibbs Qualifies 25th At Atlanta

Ty Gibbs will start 25th in Sunday's Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Entering the second race of the season, Ty Gibbs remains one of NASCAR's biggest question marks when it comes to fantasy and sports betting. While he is undeniably one of the future stars in the sport, his inconsistencies at this stage […]

Christopher Bell’s Performance At Daytona A Sign Of Things To Come?

On Saturday afternoon, Christopher Bell qualified 22nd for Sunday's Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Coming off a third-place finish at Daytona, Bell enters this race with a lot of momentum. It appears that Monday's performance had an influence on the sportsbooks, as DraftKings currently has the JGR star at +1200 to win, the […]

Michael McDowell's Daytona 500 Race Marred By Mechanical Issue

On Monday afternoon, Michael McDowell got off to a hot start by leading six laps in the Daytona 500. Despite this initial surge, the former Daytona champion cooled off drastically. To make matters worse, a mechanical issue experienced late in stage one caused the No. 34 to head to the garage, where he remained until […]

Kyle Busch Exceeds DFS Value In The Daytona 500

Kyle Busch started the 2024 season with an impressive 12th-place finish in Monday's Daytona 500. Despite beginning from P34, Busch quietly maneuvered his way through the field and even led for 12 laps during the race. Despite the poor starting position, the former two-time Cup Series champion managed to run 73% of the race in […]

Late Wreck Derails Ryan Blaney's Strong Start In Title Defense

During the 66th running of the Daytona 500, Ryan Blaney was in sixth place when a wreck involving 23 cars ended his day. While not his fault, the accident proved to be a major setback for both the reigning Cup Series champion and the 45% of DFS players that rostered him on DraftKings. After winning […]

Christopher Bell Starts Off 2024 With Third-Place Finish At Daytona

Christopher Bell started off the 2024 season in style by finishing third in Monday's Daytona 500. After earning the fourth starting position in Thursday night's Duels, Bell was able to work his way to the front of the pack in just nine laps, a position he held onto until lap 30. His 22 lead laps […]

Should You Fade Tyler Reddick In DFS This Weekend?

After winning the first Bluegreen Vacations Duel, Tyler Reddick earned the third starting position in Sunday's Daytona 500. Following a disastrous qualifying round on Wednesday, the Toyotas bounced back in a major way on Thursday night. Led by Reddick, a total of three Camrys raced their way to a top-10 starting position for Sunday's Great […]
