ANALYSIS: St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Austin Gomber has been a solid addition to the Cardinals rotation for a majority of the season. Remove one bad game against the Dodgers (3 IP, 7 ER, and 3 K) and you have a solid pitcher. Gomber has allowed two earned runs, or less, in seven of the last 10 appearances and punched out at least five batters in five of the last nine games.
This week, Gomber is a two start pitcher, facing the Brewers in St. Louis and the Cubs in Chicago. Milwaukee is first on the schedule for Gomber. They have struck out 1,376 times this season, which is fifth-most in baseball. Also, while the Cubs would normally be a challenge for any team, they will have likely clinched the NL Central by the time Gomber faces them.
