BALLER MOVE: Start in all fantasy leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: High-ceiling fantasy back
ANALYSIS:
Austin Ekeler has been a top fantasy option for many years. He's had 410 carries and 177 catches in the last two seasons. The 28-year-old also totaled 38 touchdowns during that span, so it's more than apparent he's a big part of the team's offense. As expected, Ekeler was one of the top names in preseason rankings heading into the 2023-24 campaign. Yet, he hasn't been as productive this season for various reasons, including an ankle injury that cost him three games.
The misfortune didn't end there, as the team battled countless ailments (some season-ending) to their other top performers, specifically Justin Herbert, Mike Williams, and, most recently, Keenan Allen. Additionally, the team parted ways with Brandon Staley after an embarrassing 63-21 loss to the Raiders in Week 15. That said, with most season-long fantasy leagues entering the final week, can managers trust Ekeler to deliver?
Without question, every decision is crucial at this point in the fantasy season. However, Ekeler's ceiling is higher than nearly every running back in the National Football League, so would anyone feel comfortable relegating him to the bench? The short answer is no. Keep Ekeler starting in all fantasy setups, even more so in PPR formats, especially against a Broncos' defense that's struggled against opposing fantasy backs all season.
