The NASCAR Cup Series ran a single practice session at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday afternoon in preparation for the Crayon 301 race on Sunday evening.
The field was split into two groups for this practice session. The first group had the "faster" version of the track as far as single-lap times goes.
Below you'll find the two practice groups, key notes from the practice session and the practice speeds for all drivers.
Important Practice Notes
Kyle Busch - Kyle Busch was 7th-fastest in the middle of his practice session and then got into the wall pretty hard. The #8 team immediately starting making repairs to the car, and it was reported that he was able to get back out on track for a lap or two at the end of the session.
Michael McDowell - The #34 Ford was extremely fast off the truck this weekend. McDowell was the fastest car in practice and also was the only driver to make a significantly long run in his group, which signals that the driver is happy with the car. He had the best 25-lap average but was also the only driver to make that long of a run through both sessions.
William Byron - After completing eight laps in practice, William Byron came on the radio and told his team that he felt like he had no power steering. The NBC broadcast crew also mentioned that something could be off on Byron's teammate, Chase Elliott's, car, as Elliott only made one lap and came back into the pits.
Joey Logano - The #22 Ford wasn't super slow on the practice chart, but he hated his car. He called it "awful" multiple times and the team made some major swings once Logano brought it into the pits, but he wasn't happy with those, either.
