Injuries and stints on the league's COVID list — i.e. the health and safety protocols — have made it incredibly difficult to make sense of the NBA right now, especially for managers in season-long fantasy leagues.
Let's check in on the current COVID situation for the Minnesota Timberwolves, who have been without their entire starting lineup.
Are any of those missing players set to return on Tuesday? Is it time to drop some of the team's players who you picked up as streamers?
Are Karl-Anthony Towns, D'Angelo Russell, Anthony Edwards, and other Timberwolves Playing Tonight Against the Knicks?
Update: Patrick Beverley and Naz Reid are back.
According to the NBA's official injury report, Minnesota's players have emerged from the league's health and safety protocols:
But despite that, it doesn't actually sound like the team will have all — or even any — of those players on Tuesday against the Knicks.
Anthony Edwards, for example, has been cleared to return but isn't going to be playing tonight, it appears, as he's described as having a "ramp-up period" prior to returning.
Karl-Anthony Towns, D'Angelo Russell, Taureen Prince, Naz Reid Injury and COVID Updates
Taurean Prince and Naz Reid are back too, but Prince has already been ruled out of Tuesday's game, and we should expect Reid to be out too.
As for other key players in the health and safety protocols, there's been no news from Shams or Woj about them returning, so we should head into tonight with the belief that players like Karl-Anthony Towns and D'Angelo Russell won't be playing either.
Which Timberwolves Players Can I Stream?
You might have picked up some Minnesota players in fantasy. If so, you should have at least one more night of use from them before you have to drop those players.
Greg Monroe was signed to a 10-day contract just yesterday and played 25 minutes off the bench, finishing with 11 points, nine rebounds and six assists despite not having played in the NBA since the 2018-19 season.
A couple of other players who might be out there on the waiver wire and who had big games on Monday are Nathan Knight and Jaylen Nowell.
Knight had 20 points and 11 rebounds in 29 minutes, while Nowell had 29 points, six rebounds and three assists in 34 minutes. Jordan McLaughlin had 10 assists if you're a fantasy manager who is currently chasing assists.
All of these guys — minus Nowell, possibly — will soon be droppable, but they have fantasy value tonight.
