ANALYSIS: There is a 53% chance that last year's No. 2 tight end is sitting on your waiver wire. He is healthy, well-rested and likely looking to make a statement after being suspended for PEDs. In case you forgot, Antonio Gates looked rejuvenated in 2014, finishing the season with 821 yards and 12 touchdowns. The only tight end to finish with more fantasy points was Rob Gronkowski, which should surprise no one. The only difference is Gronk was likely a first- or second-round pick in your draft. Gates is just waiting to be grabbed by a smart owner.
When Gates comes back from his suspension, he will have the same QB that he has had for most of his career in an offense that springboarded him to last year's fantastic performance. Backup Ladarius Green has battled concussion issues over the first three weeks, leaving the door wide open for a returning Gates to save the day and again put up monstrous stats. If you have disposable player on your roster, I would pick up and stash Gates in all leagues and formats.
