BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 31% of Yahoo! leagues
ANALYSIS: Orioles center fielder Anthony Santander has taken over a starting job and ran with it. In 43 games, Santander is slashing .304/.344/.509 with eight home runs, 30 RBI and one stolen base.
His 5.9% walk rate and 18.2% strikeout rate are right in line with what he posted in a part-time role last year, and although his .272 xBA suggests some regression, he's still posting the best barrel rate, hard hit rate and exit velocity of his young career.
Santander has gone nuclear in the last 11 days. Since July 17, Santander is slashing .413/.408/.783 with four home runs, 14 RBI and 11 runs scored. It's one of the best hot streaks by any hitter this entire season, and while it's very clearly unsustainable, he is worth a look in 12+ team leagues at least as long as he is hot.
He's hitting in the heart of Baltimore's lineup and playing everyday, and while the steals aren't there, the power and solid contact numbers should keep him fantasy relevant in deeper formats - even when he inevitably comes down to earth.
