Anthony Rizzo will be 26 years old for the majority of this season, right at the beginning of what can be considered his “prime years”, when a player posts the best numbers he’ll ever have. Although this is usually the norm, Rizzo might be an exception, as he's already been a two-time all-star. With the addition of Jason Heyward, he'll probably be hitting third, the spot usually reserved for a lineup’s best hitter. Coming off missing just two games all year, Rizzo is primed for another full season, and will also be looking for a third consecutive campaign of over 30 HR. He’s become a more disciplined batter, striking out nine less times last year, despite playing in 20 more games. His RBI total jumped from 78 in 2014 to 101 last year, his hits increased, and he even stole 17 bases. Slashing .278/.387/.512 in 2015, you’re probably looking at something right around the same area, perhaps with a slight batting average bump into the lower .280s but nothing more. Barring injuries, Rizzo will be an MVP favorite this year, as the centerpiece of what may very well be the best lineup in baseball. He’s a top 10 pick, so if you’re positioned around eight or nine, he will be your best option. If he somehow falls down to you after the top 10, count your blessings and snatch him up immediately.
