Anthony Miller (WR, CHI) - Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: This Sunday marked the second time this season in which Anthony Miller got targeted 6+ times by the Bears quarterback, and the first in the post-Trubisky era (shout-out Nick Foles!). It took time for Nicky to trust Miller, but finally, he did. The heavy volume helped Miller finish with his second-highest fantasy score of the year so far.

Miller racked up 11 looks and hauled in 8 of those targets for 73 yards against the Saints in a losing effort this past weekend. No Bears wideout had logged 10+ targets this season other than Allen Robinson, and Miller himself had only one game with 6+ targets before this one. Rookie Darnell Mooney has three such games, including Sunday's.

From a season-long perspective, though, Miller is just one target below Mooney's count (42 to 43), has scored the same amount of touchdowns (2), but falls down to the rook in receiving yards (262 to 305). On a per-touch basis, though, Miller is averaging 2.54 per touch compared to Mooney's 2.29, and he's also outperforming the freshman in points per snap played (0.20 to 0.17).

Miller has been the second most-efficient receiver of the Bears this year, and he should retain the WR2 role going forward or at least stay in the lineup weekly as the WR3. That and Chicago's next two matchups bode well for him, as the Bears will face the second- and third-worst defenses against WRs in fantasy points allowed per game. Miller should be a must-add and start at FLEX for needy GMs in deeper leagues.
