BALLER MOVE: Draft Target Late Rounds or Waiver Wire Add in All Leagues
ANALYSIS: Speedster Anthony Gose is one of my favorite deep sleepers going into the 2015 season. At only 24 years old, Gose is poised to potentially lead off for the Tigers this season who should once again score a ton of runs. Gose stole 15 bases in 2014 in only 94 games played and should easily surpass 25 if he is indeed a full time starter for the Tigers, which he looks to be.
Gose lacks power as evidenced by only five home runs in 552 at bats, however I expect that his experience last season should translate in an increase in his OBP in 2015. Batting in front of Ian Kinsler, Miguel Cabrera, and Victor Martinez, will give him much better pitches to hit and a much greater opportunity to score runs. His BABIP was a solid .317 last season and the increase in strikes that he should see at the top of the order should help his OBP overall.
The only thing holding Gose back as a guaranteed late round selection is the question of playing time so the fantasy owner may want to wait and see what is his role with the team. If he does end up leading off for Detroit he could easily be a draft steal.
