BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 41% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Two issues have plagued Anthony DeSclafani during his seven seasons in the major leagues - injuries and the long ball. While it remains to be seen if he can stay out of the trainer's room, the 31-year-old's early 2021 success suggests that he may figured out how to avoid home runs more consistently.
Leaving Cincinnati for the much friendlier confines of San Francisco's Oracle Park can certainly help, but what's encouraging about Disco's results thus far is that three of his four starts have been on the road. Instead, he's inducing a career high rate of ground balls by relying more on his sinker. He's also throwing more curves, and the pitch has a ridiculous 36% whiff rate so far.
DeSclafani has always done well at limiting free passes, and since 2018 he has struck out just under a batter per inning. If he can keep the ball on the ground and in the yard, he'll be an asset to fantasy managers going forward.
