BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 17% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Always in possession of an 80-grade nickname, the man they call Tony Disco hasn't had much to boogie about in recent years. After a breakout 2016, the lanky right-hander missed all of the following season with injury and then posted a middling 4.93 ERA last season. So far in 2019, though, he looks better than ever.
Through six starts, the 29-year-old has a 3.48 ERA and 1.16 WHIP with 36 strikeouts in 31 innings. He's allowed just one run and nine hits in his last 18 innings of work, and one of those games was against the Cardinals, who have scored more runs than all but three other teams. The secret to his success to this point has been a newly refined curveball that is generating an elite whiff rate of 20%. His usually excellent slider hasn't looked good, but if that changes, DeSclafani could be one of the year's best waiver additions.
Even if he just maintains his current level of production, Disco is worthy of a higher ownership rate than this.
