BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 10% of Yahoo! leagues
ANALYSIS: Trader Jerry DiPoto dealt the Mariners two strongest relievers, left-hander Roenis Elias and right-hander Hunter Strickland, to the Nationals at the trade deadline. That means there will be a new closer in Seattle, and while it is not the most inspiring option, it looks like journeyman reliever Anthony Bass will get the first crack at the job.
Bass has turned in a solid campaign for the Mariners, with a 3.49 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP in 28.1 innings pitched. His 21.4% strikeout rate and 8.0% walk rate are uninspiring however, as is his 4.31 FIP and 4.08 SIERA.
Plus, the Mariners may choose to go with a committee approach, and could use Cody Gearrin or Sam Tuivailala in the ninth inning as well.
However, for those desperate for saves in deeper (12+ team) leagues, Bass is the guy you want to target for the time being.
