BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 31% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: After a dreadful first month of the season, Washington Nationals starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez turned things around and has been in a nice groove. He followed up his 5.91 ERA in April with a 1.65 ERA in May and he currently has a 3.09 ERA in June. Four of his last six starts have been quality starts. He’s struck out 17 batters and walked just three in June.
Sanchez has done a great job of limiting hard contact as his 28% hard-hit rate and 85.6 exit velocity are both amongst the top 10% in the league. Keeping those two marks low was a big reason for his success last season when he maintained a 2.83 ERA and 1.08 WHIP and was a surprise fantasy gem.
While Sanchez is on this roll, he should be owned in all NL-only leagues and all 12+ team leagues. Additionally, with his next start being a road game against the Tigers on Friday, he should be owned in all league types at least for the short term benefit of his favorable upcoming matchup.
