BALLER MOVE: Draft target ~pick 180
CURRENT ADP: ~196 overall
ANALYSIS: Let's stick in the outfield with another leadoff bat that is being drafted way too late. Andrew McCutchen averaged 3.25 fantasy points per game in 2020. He is leading off for a potent offense in the Phillies. McCutchen had a stat line of .253-10-32-34-4, with a .180 ISO, .327 wOBA, and 103 wRC+. He was the McCutchen we have come to expect in recent years, yet he is currently drafted at pick 196. The lack of respect for McCutchen is just strange. Is there a statistical reason for the decreased draft price?

Nope. That is the easy answer, NOPE. When digging into the statcast numbers, he had a barrel rate of 8.2%, an xBA of .277, an xwOBA of .343, and a hard-hit rate of 41.2%. All of those numbers line up with previous seasons or were better than previous seasons. His chase and zone contact rates both increased while his whiff rate decreased. McCutchen's ground ball rate even dropped by 10%. McCutchen was the same ole, if not better, McCutchen last year. He looks to be healthy this season, and there is no reason to not draft McCutchen everywhere in your 2021 drafts.

10 League-Winning Starting Pitchers: Fantasy Baseball Later-Round Draft Targets (2025)
The term "league-winning" is better served in fantasy football, where one player can single-handedly win your matchup for you. Think stud rookie wideouts who had a huge second half like Brian Thomas Jr. or running backs who took over as starters like Bucky Irving. Whereas in fantasy baseball, you need several pieces of the puzzle […]
