EXPERT ANALYSIS: With the All-Star break behind us, call-up season continues as contenders like the Red Sox look for effective ways to fill holes on their roster. One big hole for the Red Sox all season has been left field, as Brock Holt's .258/4/22 isn't getting the job done. For that reason, Andrew Benintendi figures to have a great opportunity beginning very soon. He was ranked the #15 overall prospect by Baseball America before this season and has the ability to make an immediate impact.
Benintendi is a contact hitter, with a career .312 average in the minors. He doesn't possess a ton of power or at least he hasn't shown it thus far, with 18 HR over the last year and a half. He has stolen 14 bases in 312 AB this season, although he doesn't figure to be a huge speedster. He hasn't played a game above Double-A yet, so there will certainly be challenges for him initially. The run-scoring potential in a potent Red Sox lineup is immense, however, making him a worthy add in deep leagues.
