Andre Williams (RB, NYG) - Waiver Wire Analysis

ANALYSIS: Andre Williams is the third wheel in a Giants backfield featuring Rashad Jennings and Shane Vereen. Each back has their own special attributes they bring to the field which makes them important parts of the offense but makes their fantasy value hard to predict.

Shane Vereen is the third down and receiving option making him really only valubable in PPR. He just doesn't get the ball in regular running situations and isn't viewed as an option to carry the ball. Jennings and Williams split the carries depeding on yardage, situation, and in-game production. There is no clear short yardage or red zone back so trying to figure out who's going to vulture touchdowns is out of the question. Jennings has 42 attempts to Williams' 37 and both are around the 3.3 yards per attempt mark.

Despite the pathetic yards per attempt average (28th in NFL) the Giants have still rushed the ball 106 times which is 16th in the league. Basically, the running game isn't working that well but the Giants are sticking with it. The only glaring difference between Jennings and Williams is that Williams has yet to have a single ball thrown his away this season. Last year he showed signs of serious stone hands and it looks like Eli doesn't fully trust the second year back to catch the ball.

Andre's tough running and consistent practice habits make him a coaches favorite so Williams will get his touches and even more so if anything happens to Jennings. This makes him a good bench option in most leagues and a handcuff to Jennings. Should anything happen to one of these backs the other will be looking at 20+ carries a game, otherwise both are RB4 or low end RB3 at best.
