ANALYSIS: New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara was a popular mid-round fantasy football draft pick this year despite having a three-game suspension for an off-the-field incident in February 2022. The former Tennessee star is the RB16 for the season, averaging 16.5 half-point PPR fantasy points per game.
Kamara has 119 rushing attempts for 457 yards and two touchdowns. Furthermore, he has played a significant role in the passing game, totaling 54 receptions for 355 receiving yards and one touchdown this year.
The veteran running back has been outstanding for fantasy players since returning from his suspension. He has scored at least 13.9 fantasy points in all but one game this season, including two straight. Furthermore, Kamara has been a pass-catching machine, totaling at least four receptions in all but one contest.
Meanwhile, he faces the Detroit Lions in Week 13. The Lions have held running backs to 14.4 fantasy points per game this year, the third-fewest in the NFL. However, they have given up a rushing touchdown to running backs in four of their past five matchups. With Michael Thomas and Rashid Shaheed out for this game, expect Kamara to see an uptick in targets.
