Chicago Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery is expected to return to the football field in Week 4 against the Oakland Raiders. Jeffery has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury.
If you think this means you should immediately put Jeffery into your starting lineups, don't jump the gun. It seems highly unlikely at this point that Jay Cutler will be back in action for the Bears, which means Jimmy Clausen will once again be under center. Clausen was in way over his head in Week 3 against the Seattle Seahawks. He completed only 9 of 17 passing attempts for 63 yards.
The good news is that the Raiders defense is nowhere near as good as the Seahawks', and Clausen will likely lock onto Jeffery in the passing game. It wouldn't be surprising if Jeffery saw around 15 targets against the Raiders. Unfortunately, Clausen doesn't have a good enough arm to put Jeffery in a position to make plays.
Jeffery is a very risky fantasy play in Week 4. If you have another option at receiver, sit Jeffery until Cutler returns - or at least until Clausen proves he knows how to throw the football more than 10 yards down the field.
