Ouch – for both Houston Texans key running back Arian Foster, and to those who were looking forward to drafting Foster in their fantasy football league (and by “those” people, I mean poor Blackberry-texting time travelers from the year 2012).
After suffering a serious groin injury during Monday’s training camp, it was reported that Foster, who had been one of the central keys to Houston’s running game, may have to undergo surgery.
Oddly enough, the injury occured during the team’s first fully padded practice (*insert lame joke about not cushioning the blow here*) and just adds on to Foster’s list of football injuries. He missed one game last season due to a hamstring injury, and another two games in November due to a - you guessed it - freaking groin injury.
There’s concern that Foster will possibly miss the opening of Houston's regular season if it’s revealed that he needs surgery.
Running back Alfred Blue took Foster’s place at practice, but was carted off the field with a cramp after taking all the reps that Foster’s groin couldn’t. Despite the cramp, Blue looks to be second in line behind Foster, and with the first stringer’s out of commission, Blue’s fantasy projection could possibly skyrocket.
