ANALYSIS: It was all laughs... until it was not. And if you're one of those still laughing out loud at Poku, shame on you, mate. This kid was rather bad from the tipoff of the season to Feb. 1, when he last played for the Thunder before the All-Star break to hone his game in the G League. After that, though, Aleksej Pokusevski has played 15 games, has started all of them, is logging 32 MPG, and even though the minutes are super high he's still putting up bulky and efficient numbers.
Poku entered the league as an oddity given his frame, still ways away from being a rock-solid body to throw anywhere near the men of the L. No problem these days, though, with Poku manning the forward positions for the Thunder while averaging a good 13-6-3 line with almost a block per game on top of that. Poku, mind you, is also a freaking seven-footer hitting 2.2 3PG since he became a starter.
Do you know how many players are averaging a 13-6-3 line in the past two months? 25 including Poku, who, obviously, is the lone rookie in that list and the one doing it while playing the sixth-fewest minutes of the 25. The Thunder won't admit to being tanking, nor probably will do it as blatantly as you might think (basically because their players don't seem to know how to do it), and Poku has become a staple of Thunder lineups for a month already. Add him to your team before it's too late.
