Toronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk is a 2021 fantasy baseball draft value. His ADP is undervalued, making him a potential draft bargain and late-round sleeper to target.
BALLER MOVE: Draft target ~pick 280
CURRENT ADP: ~310 overall
ANALYSIS: This may be more of a sleeper for NFBC formats or other two-catcher leagues. While I recognize that the Jays still have Danny Jansen present, but most catching jobs in the MLB are split. In a one-catcher league, you may opt for a player with locked in plate appearances, but most 2nd catchers in leagues will have playing time concerns. With that in mind, Kirk puts the bat on the ball well with plus plate discipline, so I am intrigued.
He hadn’t played above Advanced-A until logging 25 MLB PAs in 2020, where he went 9-for-24 (.375) with two doubles and a homer. As a 20-year-old at the A-level, Kirk hit a combined .290/.403/.465 with 56 walks against just 39 strikeouts over 372 PAs. That profile is rare from a C-eligible bat, and Toronto’s next-generation offense is trending up, so there is every indication that they may turn 60% of the playing time over to Kirk if the bat continues to play.
