BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 4% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Aledmys Diaz certainly has not recaptured the form he showed as a rookie in 2016 (obviously if he had, his ownership rate would not be microscopic), but he has bounced back in terms of power. The Blue Jays’ shortstop has 12 homers this year in just 279 plate appearances, with four of them coming in his last 11 games.
While he only hit seven home runs for the Cardinals last season, Diaz did have 17 bombs for St. Louis in 2016. While Diaz's .254 batting average is not good, he does have a horrible .249 BABIP for the season. Considering that he has a career-best 33.3% hard hit ball rate and 17.5% line drive rate, look for more luck from Diaz for the remainder of the season.
Diaz will play every day for as long as Lourdes Gurriel is on the disabled list and is worth consideration in AL-only formats. He is worth a look as a starter as a middle infielder until Gurriel returns.
