ANALYSIS: Alec Burks has been around forever. In fact, he played his first pro game all the way back in 2012 but he's just entering his age-29 season while now part of the New York Knicks squad. Burks has never been a bonafide starter and that won't change now, but he can add plenty of fantasy goodies to your lineups coming off the bench.
Burks was a surprising play in New York's debut against Indiana last Wednesday, logging 31+ minutes of playing time and finishing with a nice 22-4-3 line including a steal and a block to spare. The shooting was average at 50%, but he limited the number of errors he committed (just one turnover) while logging a relatively "high" usage for a secondary player finishing 23.8 percent of the possessions he played in.
One of the most exciting stats in Burks first-game sheet was his 9 free-throw attempts, of which he hit 8 of them. If Burks can keep his shooting up while going to the line that frequently, his scoring numbers will be tasty. Burks was a 15-4-3 player last season with mental free-throw shooting percentages and a top-30 guard-eligible play in fantasy leagues. And he's still available in 4/5 Yahoo leagues. Must-add role player.
