BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 21% of leagues
ANALYSIS: It has been virtually raining top-50 prospects in the MLB over the past week, with several extremely talented and high-profile young players getting the call up to the major leagues to provide a much-needed boost to their clubs in the race for the playoffs in the shortened 2020 campaign. One such prospect is former Wichita State Shocker and third baseman Alec Bohm, who has provided plenty of pop already for the Phillies, posting just six strikeouts, six walks, and three doubles over his first 29 big league AB and capping off the weekend with a walk and a HR in a 3-3 outing on Sunday.
Philadelphia needed an extra hand after Jay Bruce hit the IL, and while there is an occasional disruption in playing time from the likes of utility man Phil Gosselin, Bohm has largely gotten the nod at the hot corner since his MLB arrival. Bohm is yet another prospect who got off to a slow start for his minor league career, but has since shown extreme polish and adaptability in his ascent through the minor leagues despite having not made a stop in Triple-A, and in 2019 he ended up with 55 XBH (30 doubles, four triples, 21 HR), six stolen bases (in ten attempts), and a slash of .305/.378/.518 across 475 AB at the Single-A, Single-A+, and Double-A levels. He might not be much of a base-thief, but Alec Bohm has dialed-in plate discipline and the ability to hit for contact and power, and that unusually complete package for a 24-year-old prospect could net huge rewards for a Phillies team that ranks fifth in OPS at .789 and has already scored 128 runs in just 24 games.
