AFC Bournemouth Fantasy Soccer Analysis: 2015-16 English Premier League Preview

The single most exciting thing about the structure of the English league is its ability to maintain 92 professional league clubs and to allow each one of them to dream of reaching the promised land of the EPL.

On the final day of the 2008-09 season " The Cherries" faced relegation to the abyss of non-league football.  A goal 10 minutes from time against Grimsby Town secured their Football League future and now 6 years and three promotions later AFC Bournemouth are a Premier League Club!

Reaching the EPL is an incredible achievement, but staying there will be, arguably, an even more difficult task to accomplish.  AFC Bournemouth are an enigma.  They are a club that has a style of play and will be determined to stick to it whatever the consequences.  This offers the astute fantasy performer an opportunity to look to secure value in the attacking side of the equation as AFC Bournemouth has one philosophy and that is to attack the opposition.  Callum Wilson was the major beneficiary, scoring 23 goals last season, and expect him, along with Yann Kermogant, to be in among the goals again.

Investments in the playing squad are being made with veteran central defender Sylvain Distin arriving at the club, together with on-loan offensive player Christian Atsu from Chelsea.  The former Porto man could very well flourish given the style of play that helps define the team from the south coast of England. AFC Bournemouth will be fun to watch, but I would not be relying upon many of their defensive players to contribute to my fantasy soccer points, as the step up to the top tier is likely to prove too difficult.  The club will have some wonderful days in the top division ahead but don't expect it to last.

Prediction: It will be a rollercoaster ride but it will unfortunately end in Relegation.

Key performers: Attackers: Callum Wilson, Yann Kermogant
