The Indianapolis Colts have one of the top rushing attacks in the NFL. Jonathan Taylor is an elite running back when healthy. Meanwhile, Anthony Richardson flashed massive rushing upside as a rookie.
While they will be a run-first offense, the Colts have a solid set of wide receivers. Michael Pittman Jr. is the No. 1 pass catcher after the team signed him to a long-term contract this offseason. Behind him on the depth chart are Adonai Mitchell, Josh Downs, and Alec Pierce.
All three wide receivers have been Day 2 NFL Draft picks over the past three years. However, which one should fantasy players draft in 2024? Let’s dive into their outlooks.

Adonai Mitchell 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
Mitchell had only one year of elite college production, totaling 55 receptions for 845 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns last season at Texas. The former Longhorn is a capable downfield and red zone threat, giving Richardson another big target alongside Pittman. Mitchell has had an up-and-down training camp but could be a league winner as a rookie.

Josh Downs 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
Downs averaged 5.3 targets per game in the four contests with Richardson, seeing more than six only once. However, he averaged 7.2 half-point PPR fantasy points per game as a rookie, totaling 68 receptions on 98 targets for 771 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The former North Carolina star was the team’s No. 2 receiver in 2023. Downs should be the favorite to have that role again this season, though he reportedly suffered an ankle injury on Wednesday and will need to be monitored.

Alec Pierce 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
Pierce was a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. While some thought he could push Pittman for the No. 1 role early in his career, Pierce has struggled in the NFL. He has only 73 receptions on 143 targets for 1,107 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 33 career games. While Pierce has had a solid start to training camp, fantasy players shouldn’t expect much from him in 2024.

Who Should I Draft?
Fantasy players can avoid picking any Colts’ wide receiver not named Pittman and be happy leaving their draft. The passing attack will flow through the veteran. Furthermore, Richardson liked to target his tight ends in his limited games as a rookie.
However, if Downs ends up being fine after an injury scare, fantasy players should draft him in the double-digit rounds as a flex option. Meanwhile, Mitchell could replace Downs as the second option to end the year.
