BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 43% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Chicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell stumbled out of the gate early this season, as he did hit just .250/.326/.333 with no homers and just four RBI in April. Since the calendar flipped to May, however, Russell has slashed .298/.370/.438 with five homers and three stolen bases.
While these numbers are not mind boggling, he does hit at the bottom part of the Cubs lineup, leading to lower totals in runs scored and RBI. His numbers have been even better since the beginning of June, however, posting an .846 OPS since June 1, tallying 31 R+RBI. He has four multi-hit games in his last 10 games, hitting two doubles and two home runs in the last 10 games as well.
Whatever issues Russell may have with run production, remember that he did have 21 home runs and 95 RBI in 2016. His .370 OBP since May is very impressive, demonstrating that the 24-year-old is finally taking a step forward at the plate in his fourth MLB season. He is a good addition in deeper fantasy leagues and could even be a starter at SS in 14+ team leagues.
