BALLER MOVE: Target ~ 220
CURRENT ADP: ~ 250
ANALYSIS: Addison Reed had himself a career year last season with the Mets. The former closer set new career highs in innings pitched, K/BB rate, ERA, among many other things. By all accounts it was his most successful season as a reliever, and at 28-years of age there’s no reason to suspect some kind of big drop off for him. With Jeurys Familia getting a 15-game suspension, Reed will open the season as the closer, though will likely cede the role to Familia upon his return. However, Reed can be counted on for a couple saves in the early going before being a monster in holds leagues once again.
Familia owners should try and snag Reed if able for the first two weeks, though non-Familia owners can get plenty of use from the right-hander also. His K/BB ratio was sixth among all relievers at 7.00, to go along with a 0.94 WHIP and a measly .206 batting average against. Not to mention, his 40 holds last season led the league by double digits; two pitchers tied for second with 29 holds. If you can snag Reed late, he will at least put up solid ratios for you this season.
