ANALYSIS: Is St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright back? In his last outing, Wainwright pitched seven innings and struck out four Brewers, however he allowed three earned runs (two homers). Next on Waino’s dance card is a trip to Wrigley.
In his career, Wainwright is 10-2 with a 3.79 ERA and 104 strikeouts in 116.1 innings of work. While his two starts this week are on the road (also travelling to Philadelphia), both ballparks should not be that big of a factor, either. Over the past three seasons, both Wrigley Field and Citizens Bank Park 15th and 16th, respectively, in Park Factor statistics.
These look like two rough starts on paper, as the Cubs are the three-time reigning NL Champions and the Phillies are on a six-game winning streak, but Waiwright does have value in deeper formats. If he is able to post quality starts in each start this week, look for him to be a good player to hold in all formats going forward.
