BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 10% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Kansas City Royals middle infielder Adalaberto Mondesi has been one of the best waiver wire pickups over the last weeks because he refuses to quit hitting. The Royals’ shortstop, who turned 23 last week, has gone hitless just twice since July 10 and posted a .340/.354/.511 line during that time, with a pair of homers and five stolen bases.
Some of that success is certainly BABIP-fueled (.438), but given how tough it is right now to find players who can contribute steals without killing you in other categories, fantasy owners will take it. Mondesi is 5-for-7 on stolen bases since July 10 and has scored 10 runs in the same time periods.
Mondesi does not have the flashiest of extra base hit numbers, but he does look like he can hold up his strong batting average and has speed to boot. With his average and speed, and eligibility at second base and shortshop, Mondesi is a good depth addition in deeper leagues.
